My mother used to tell me money doesn’t grow on trees, then I discovered the ‘Money Tree’ - but those shiny green leaves don’t pay the bills so I’m afraid I do have to charge for my books, my writing services and my business support.
It’s difficult to provide an accurate quote for a full project without a discovery meeting to ascertain exactly what the client is looking for. However, I understand how frustrating it is to look in a shop window, like what I see but there is no price tag attached - how do I know if I can afford it? So, I thought you would find it helpful to see some indication of what you might expect to pay if you have an idea of the time commitment judged necessary for the work.
In today’s cost conscious marketplace, I’m aware that I might not be the cheapest - nor am I the most expensive. I aim to provide ‘Goldilocks’ service that is ‘just right’ for you.
My Rates…
I have given a ‘rule of thumb’ hourly and full-day rate as a starting point.
My work ethic is to provide a professional and accurate service, no matter the volume of work presented. Whilst the rates look like the varying levels of expertise and input are being charged alike, it is the time that will vary to compensate for the ‘easier/lighter tasks’.
Full project rates can be discussed and negotiated. I would need to complete an assessment of the work anticipated from the information provided to me during the initial discovery meeting. Any rate agreed would be subject to renegotiation if parameters change significantly during the period of the project.
Ghostwriting: Usually quoted, after the initial discovery interview, on a per-project basis as this can vary widely.
For smaller projects such as articles, leaflets etc:
£200 Day Rate (max. 7.5 hours)
Hourly Rate: £30.00 per hour or part thereof
Copywriting/Content Creation: £200 Day Rate (max. 7.5 hours)
Hourly Rate: £30.00 per hour or part thereof
Copyediting /Proofreading: £200 Day rate (max. 7.5 hours)
Hourly Rate: £30.00 per hour or part thereof
Other Stuff: You’ve guessed it! Day rate: £200 (max. 7.5 hours)
Hourly rate: £30.00 per hour or part thereof
Retainer Rates: Negotiable based on a monthly commitment anticipated. As an example: 1 day per month contract for a minimum of 6 months with a 1-month notice required from either party: £175 / 2 days: £325. (Renegotiable if work varies significantly from information provided at discovery.)
